Frequently asked questions about the site
Questions about the site itself. Questions about a city, a dialling code or a bank are answered on each page.
Frequently asked questions about the site
Where does the list of businesses in each city come from?
From Overture Maps Places, an open map dataset maintained by a consortium of companies and published under open licences. We filter by the record confidence score, remove duplicates and check the city against the official list of municipalities. No listing is written or edited by us.
Why does my city show far fewer businesses than I see on the street?
Because coverage in an open dataset varies a lot by region: it depends on who contributed what. The count measures what the dataset records, not how many businesses exist. When the count falls below the minimum we adopted, the page says so plainly, stays out of the Google index and carries no ads.
I own a listed business. How do I correct or remove the listing?
Write to us with the name of the business, the city and the link to the page. We remove the listing from our pages without demanding proof, and show you how to fix it at the source so the correction also holds on the other sites and apps that use the same data.
Do you publish personal phone numbers?
No. Some records in the open dataset belong to sole traders, where the business number is also the personal one. Those appear only as the contact of the listed business, never in a list of people, and they come down immediately if the holder asks.
Why is there no street-level postcode table here?
Because the national address database is licensed by the postal operator and the free copies in circulation have no clear commercial licence. We would rather explain how the digits are structured and send you to the official lookup than republish a table we are not allowed to use.
Why does no page show a coupon code?
Because we have no affiliate-network account, and without one there is no live source of coupons. Inventing a code or copying one from another site would waste your time at checkout. What the brand pages explain is the kind of saving the retailer actually offers, with a link to its official channel.
Is the distance between two cities the driving distance?
No: it is the straight line between the official coordinates of both city seats. Road distance is always longer, because highways go around terrain and towns. Each pair page says so and explains the difference.
How is the site funded?
By advertising. It does not influence which cities and categories get a page, nor the order of any ranking, and no business pays for prominence. We accept no paid links and no sponsored posts.
